Asus, the Taiwanese multinational electronics company specialized in manufacturing computer & smartphone hardware launched the ASUS ZenFone AR, World’s first smartphone that supports Google’s augmented reality platform Project Tango and mobile virtual reality platform Google Daydream in India at a launch event held in New Delhi.
The Asus ZenFone AR smartphone was first announced at CES 2017
The Highlight feature of the smartphone is TriCam System, boasted with three rear camera : the Motion tracking camera that lets the device track its location as it moves through space and the Depth sensing camera with an infrared (IR) projector lets the device measure its distance from real-world objects and the High-resolution 23-megapixel camera that lets you view virtual objects in your actual environment in three-dimensional format.
The ASUS ZenFone AR features a metal body and bears 5.7-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixel) Super AMOLED display with 79% screen-to-body ratio, Tru2life technology for high contrast and outdoor readability, Slim bezel (1.73 mm), Over 100% NTSC high color gamut display, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, Bluelight filter for eye care, 10-finger capacitive touch, Fingerprint and smudge-resistant oleophobic coating. it runs on 64-bit Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor cloaked at 2.35GHz and optimized especially for Google Augmented Reality Tango and Virtual Reality Daydream along with 8GB LPDDR4 RAM and Adreno 530 GPU.
Storage & Operating System
The smartphone is packed with UFS 2.0 64GB / 128GB of internal storage and supports storage expansion up-to 2TB via MicroSD Card support. it also offers 100GB of Google Drive free space for two years. it runs on Asus ZenUI 3.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat update and is backed by 3300mAh non-removable battery with BoostMaster Fast Charging which offers 60% battery capacity in 39 minutes (18W) along with PowerDelivery 2.0 and Quick Charge 3.0. the smartphone is also packed with Fingerprint sensor placed on the home button.
On the optics front, the ASUS ZenFone AR sports 23-megapixel PixelMaster 3.0 camera with F/2.0 aperture, SONY IMX 318 sensor (1/2.6″ large sensor size, 1.0 µm pixel size), Focal Length 27 mm, 6p lens, 4-axis, 4 stops Optical Image Stabilization for steady photos, 3-axis Electronic Image Stabilization for shake-free videos, Ultra-fast 0.03 s instant focus and subject tracking TriTech AF system (2nd-gen laser auto-focus, phase detection auto-focus and continuous auto-focus), 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels), 30 frame per second video recording, Color correction (RGB) sensor for the best white balance and natural-looking colors, Dual-LED real tone flash, Raw file support, Blue Glass IR Filter and Zero Shutter Lag. The rear camera also supports Video Recording with 3-axis electronic image stabilization and Takes still photo while recording video with 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) at 30 fps, 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps and 720p HD video recording at 30 fps.
On the front, there’s an 8-megapixel front facing camera with OV 8856 sensor (1/4″, 1.12um), F/2.0 aperture and Screen Flash.
The Pixel Master 3.0 Camera Modes includes – Back Light (HDR), Low Light, Manual (for DSLR-like camera detail settings), Real Time Beautification, Super Resolution (for up to 4X resolution photos), Night Mode, Depth of Field, Photo Effect, Selfie Panorama, Selfie, GIF Animation, Miniature, Time Rewind, Smart Remove, All Smiles, Slow Motion, Time Lapse and Panorama mode.
The device is packed with 5-magnet speaker with NXP Smart Amp for up-to 4 times better performance and is bundled with Asus ZenEar S earphones with support for DTS Headphone:X virtual 7.1 surround sound and Hi-Res audio 384kHz. it is further integrated by a Dual internal mic with ASUS Noise Reduction Technology.
On the connectivity front, the smartphone options includes Dual SIM dual standby ( supports Nano SIM card or the MicroSD card at a time), 4G VoLTE Wi-FI 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi direct, GPS/A-GPS,GLONASS, USB Type-C and 3.5 mm audio jack. it also on-boards sensors including Accelerator, E-Compass, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Hall sensor, Ambient light sensor, RGB sensor, IR sensor (Laser Focus), Fingerprint, and Barometer. the smartphone measure at 158.7 x 77.4 x 4.6 mm and weights 170 grams.

The ASUS ZenFone AR smartphone is priced at Rs. 49,999 and is available on Flipkart starting from today 4PM IST. the smartphone is also bundled with some interesting offers which includes Discount of Rs. 2,500 on Google Daydream View virtual reality headset which is usually priced at Rs. 6,499, Extra 5% off on paying from Axis Bank Buzz Credit Cards. the company is further teamed up with Reliance Jio and is offering complimentary Jio Prime subscriptions with 10GB additional 4G data per month over 10 recharge,which will be credited with every recharge of Rs 309 or above until March 31, 2018.
