Despite of spending Billions of Dollars on Nokia’s Handset division, Microsoft lost on Nokia’s deal and decided to abandon its mobile factories in Vietnem. This decision by Microsoft would cost a lot for workers working in the plant, as this closure will effect 18,000+ jobs.
But today Foxconn announced that the company is going to purchase Microsoft’s Vietnem mobile plants. Foxconn has already purchased Nokia’s featured phone division for US$350 million. The company is going to take over Microsoft Vietnem plants for VND492 million (US$22 million).
Foxconn will utilize this plants to manufacture smartphone and feature phones in Vietnem. The decision by Foxconn has saved the future of 18,000+ workers.
