HTC Corporation, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer and consumer electronics company based in Xindian District of New Taipei City on Thursday extended its portfolio of “U-series” with the launch of HTC U11+ and HTC U11 Life smartphone. both, the device comes with support for company’s in-house “squeezable edge” technology.
The HTC U11+ is the company’s first offering with Full-Vision Display with screen-to-body ratio of 78 percent along with a taller 18:9 aspect ratio. the device is an upgraded version of the company’s flagship device HTC U11 which was launched earlier this year.
Coming to the specification, The HTC U11+ bears an 6-inch, Quad HD+ (2880 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio) bezel-less display along with a pixel density of 537 ppi, Gorilla Glass 5 and DCI-P3 Wide color gamut. under-the-hood, there’s an 64-Bit 2.45GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB on-board storage. the device will run on Android 8.0 Oreo update out-of-the box with the company’s HTC Sense UI running on top of it. the device is integrated with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa with Edge Sense feature which can be assigned to access any app, take photos, launch a voice assistant and more.
Another notable feature included in HTC U11+ is the company’s HTC Sense companion which learns user patterns and offers suggestion based on things you do. the device comes with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
On the optics front, The HTC U11+ sports a 12MP UltraPixel 3 rear camera with 1.4μm pixel, UltraSpeed Autofocus, BSI sensor, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), F/1.7 aperture, Dual LED flash, Self timer up to 10 seconds, and Face detection. it also includes HDR Boost, Panorama, Hyperlapse, Pro mode with manual control, 32 sec. long exposure and supports RAW format. it supports Slow motion 1080p video recording at 120 fps, 4K video recording with Hi-Res Audio and 3D Audio and Acoustic Focus recording with 4 microphones.
On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie shooter with 85-Degree field of view, BSI sensor, F/2.0 aperture, Live make-up, Auto Selfie (keep still or smile), Voice Selfie and Selfie timer up-to 10 seconds, HDR Boost and Selfie Panorama. it is also capable of capturing Full-HD 1080p video recording.
The HTC U11+ is backed by a 3,930 mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support and comes with Power saving and Extreme power saving mode. The HTC U11+ doesn’t feature an 3.5mm audio jack. therefore, the company is providing Active Noise Cancellation enabled USonic headphones with the device which can be easily connected to the USB Type -C port. The smartphone also features BoomSound speakers that are 30 percent louder than the one available in HTC U11.
The HTC U11+ also supports gesture including Always on voice commands, Motion Launch, Smart display, Sensor Hub for activity tracking, Quiet ring on pick up, Pocket mode and Flip to Mute. on the connectivity front, the option includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz) with MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Chromecast, DLNA, AirPlay, Miracast, and USB (3.1 Gen 1) Type-C. it also on-board sensor inlcuding Fingerprint sensor (placed on rear), Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Motion G-sensor, Compass sensor, Gyro sensor, Magnetic sensor, Sensor Hub and Edge Sensor. the device measures at 158.5 x 74.9 x 8.5 mm, and weights at 188 grams.
The HTC U11+ brings the liquid glass surface design which was available first in HTC U11 smartphone. it is crafted to impress using Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition By layering highly-refractive precious minerals across the phone’s back cover which creates stunningly vivid new colors that transforms light with every movement you make. the device will be available in Ceramic Black, Amazing Silver, and Translucent Black colours options.
The HTC U11+ will be available in selected markets in Europe and Asia. the device is also listed on the company’s website for the Indian region which hints the device is expected to launch soon. the device is priced at EURO 799 (approx Rs. 60,000).
Editors Note – The HTC U11+ will be available with 6GB RAM and 128GB on-board storage variant in the European region. while, the 4GB RAM and 64GB on-board storage variant which will be available for rest of the market, including India.
