HMD Global, the Finnish company who owns the license to use Nokia’s brand name on phones and tablets today launched a newer variant of the company’s mid-range offering, the Nokia 5 in India which is packed with 3GB of RAM.
Commenting at the launch Ajey Mehta, Vice President – India, HMD Global stated, “Nokia 5 has already forged a reputation for being a beautifully crafted phone which punches well above its weight. Now we have added more memory so fans can get enhanced performance in the same precision engineered design.”
To quickly recall, The Nokia 5 was originally launched in the country on June, 13 and was packed with 2GB of RAM. the device went on to sale starting from the occasion of India’s 70th Independence Day, August 15. apart from, RAM size rest of the specification are same.

The Budget friendly Nokia 5 sports a seamless aluminium unibody with sleek curved design and bears a 5.2-Inch IPS LCD HD (1280 x 720p, 16:9) Display with 2.5D sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass, and 500 nits brightness. the device is powered by an 1.4GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It is packed with 16GB of on-board storage and supports storage expansion up-to 128GB via MicroSD card.
On the optics front, the device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and 1.12um pixel size along with f/2.0 aperture and dual tone flash. It also has an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, AutoFocus and 1.12um Pixel Sensor. The smartphone runs on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with a guaranteed upgrade to Android Oreo.
The Nokia 5 is backed by a 3,000 mAh integrated battery capacity. on the Connectivity front, the options includes Dual-SIM, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, and Micro USB (USB 2.0) with OTG support. the device also on-boards Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer (G-sensor), E-compass, Gyroscope, Fingerprint Sensor and Hall sensor. the device measures at 149.7 x 72.5 x 8.05 mm (8.55 with camera bump).
