Xiaomi, The chinese smartphone maufacturer has officially lauched their first In-House SOC chipset “Surge S1” alongwith the Mi 5c, and Redmi 4X. the chinese company started developing its own chips in mid-2015 when they acquired mobile processor technology from Leadcore Techology Ltd., a subsidiary of Chinese state-backed Datang Telecom. the deal was made via Beijing Pinecone Electronics, a Xiaomi-linked private entity back in the year 2014. Xiaomi, is now the second Chinese smartphone manufacturer after Huawei to produce its own smart phone processor and stand on the fourth position globally to manufacture their own chipset after Samsung’s —“Exynos”, Apple’s — “A” series and Huawei’s — “Kirin” processor.
Today we are really excited and proud to announce that Xiaomi is going to lift the lid on the details about its own “Pinecone” SoC on 28th February! This would make Xiaomi the second Chinese smartphone manufacturer only after Huawei to produce its own processing units.

The REDMI 4X features premium metal body with a 5-inch diagonal display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 2.5D curved display and is powered by Snapdragon 435 processor clocking at 1.35GHz with Adreno 505 GPU. the device comes in two variants with a standard version which is packed with 2GB of RAM alongwith 16GB of internal storage and a higher version which is packed with 3GB of RAM alongwith 32GB of internal storage, both the variants comes with support for storage expansion upto 128GB via MicroSD
it also features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture with HDR, PDAF, 5-element lens, Dark light enhancement technology, Panoramic Mode Continues shooting mode, Face recognition and a Real-time filter camera. on the front there’s a 5-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture which features 2nd Gen beauty with self timer, Face recognition and Real-time camera filter.
On the connectivity front it includes options such Three card slot Micro Sim + Nano Sim and Micro-SD, GPS, AGPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Supports for multiple carrier aggregation combinations with 4G + network, Dual-band, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology and Bluetooth HID. it also includes infrared-Gyro Acceleration sensor, Distance sensor and Ambient light sensor.
The Redmi 4X smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow update with the company’s MIUI 8 UI on top and is further backed by a humongous 4100 mAh battery which also support Fast charge 3.0 and a Finger print sensor on the back and will be available in Rose (Cherry blossom), Gold and Matte Black color. the device is priced at $102 for the standard version (2 GB+16GB) whereas, the higher version with 3 GB+32GB will be priced at $130.

The lightweight ultra slim Mi 5C features premium metal body with a 5.15-inch JDI display with ultra-thin bezels of just 1.66mm and 550-nit brightness, 2048 brightness levels with ultra-precise backlight controls. it is also Xiaomi’s first smartphone which features its home made “Surge S1” processor chipset,(2.2GHz quad-core A53 + 1.4GHz quad-core A53. unlike, the Redmi 4x the Mi 5C comes only with a3GB of RAM and 64GB if internal storage variant.
On the camera front, it features a 12-megapixel ultra light-sensitive rear camera, Surge ISP algorithm, High-quality, dual-noise reduction, 14-bit color depth processing, single-frame HDR, Multi-shot optimization along-with PDAF and f/2.2 aperture. on the front there’s a 8-megapixel which enhances selfies with beautify.
The device is backed by 2860 mAh battery which also support Fast charge 3.0 and a Finger print sensor embedded on the home button. the company also stated that it will receive Android 7.1 update over-the-air by next month. the device will be come in Rose (Cherry blossom), Gold and Matte Black color and is priced at ¥ 1499 approximately $218.
