After the success of Redmi Note 4 which the fastest smartphone to sell over 1 Million in India, the Chinese Smartphone manufacturing company, Xiaomi, announced the successor of the Note series with the launch of Redmi Note 5A in a launch event held in Beijing, China. the Redmi Note 5A is first device to launch from the Redmi Note 5 series.
The company has launched the device in two economical and standard variants differ by RAM and Storage – the economical variant doesn’t sport Fingerprint sensor and is packed with 2GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage and is priced at CNY 699 (Approx Rs. 6,700) whereas, the standard variant is packed with Fingerprint sensor and is available in two options with 3GB RAM + 32GB on-board storage & 4GB RAM + 64GB on-board storage both, priced at CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 8,600) and CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 11,500) respectively. all the three devices will go on sale starting from tomorrow August, 22 via JD.com and the company’s website Mi.com
Redmi Note 5A (standard variant) Specification
The Standard variant of Redmi Note 5 sports a metal unibody and bears 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 p) display and is powered by Snapdragon 435 processor paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and Adreno 505 GPU. the device is packed with 32GB/64GB of on-board storage and supports storage expansion up-to 128GB via MicroSD card support.
the device is packed with 3,080 mAh battery which the company claim offers 10 days of standby time. it also includes a Fingerprint sensor placed at the back.
On the optics front, the device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF), F/2.2 aperture, HDR mode and LED flash support. on the front, there is 16-megapixel front facing selfie shooter with 76-degree wide-angle sensor, soft light flash, and F/2.0 aperture. both, the cameras supports Real Time beauty filters (also during video call).

The economical variant of Redmi Note 5 also sports a metal unibody and bears 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 p) display and is powered by Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB RAM and Adreno 308 GPU. on the storage front, the device is packed with 16GB of on-board storage and supports storage expansion up-to 128GB via MicroSD card support. the device is also packed with 3,080 mAh battery supports. unlike the Standard variant, it doesn’t sport Fingerprint sensor.
On the optics front, it sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF), F/2.2 aperture, HDR mode and LED flash support. on the front, it is packed with 5-megapixel front facing selfie shooter with F/2.0 aperture.
Both, the Redmi Note 5 variants runs on the latest version of in-house MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. it also includes Triple-SIM tray, Two for SIM Cards, and One dedicated for MicroSD card. the dual speakers are placed at the bottom edge of the device.
On the connectivity front, the option includes Dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port. it also on-boards sensors including infrared sensor, gyro sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and compass.
