A couple of fresh images leaked on Weibo of the alleged Xiaomi Mi5 are now contradicting previous reports that said the phone will come with a fingerprint scanner on the front. The alleged ‘live’ images of the phone show off the rear of the Mi5 black variant housing a circular module — preferably for the fingerprint sensor – below the camera. This suggests that the Mi5 may have the fingerprint scanner on the back much like on the new Nexus phones as opposed to being on the front.
The leak images also highlight the alleged Mi5’s all-metal back. It comes with a camera module, along with a LED flash and the Mi logo. Sadly, the images show just the back of the phone with the front nowhere in sight. So, we can’t possibly make out whether or not the long-rumoured physical home button stays put. It was earlier said that the Mi5 will come with a physical home button on the front and it would house the fingerprint scanner. The new set of leaked images suggest otherwise. We advise you to take this piece of information with a pinch of salt as leaks and rumours regarding the Mi5 have been quite aplenty. Nothing has been officially confirmed by Xiaomi as of now.
The only piece of information that stays confirmed is that Xiaomi will launch the Mi5 sometime after the Chinese New Year. The phone will go on sale a week later, the company recently informed. The phone is now under mass production.
The Mi5 is expected to come with a 5.2-inch display possibly with a FullHD or QuadHD resolution. It will reportedly come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor with 3GB of RAM/32GB internal storage and 4GB of RAM/64GB memory variants. It will reportedly come with a 16-megapixel camera on the rear and a 13-megapixel camera on the front. If you like our report please share your support by subscribing to our community on Facebook, Twitter, Telegram or Flipboard. you can also join our support group Smartphone Assistant for any queries related to your devices
