Yota, Russian mobile broadband services provider and smartphone manufacturer announced the Yota 3 or Yotaphone 3 in a launch event held at Beijing, China on August, 24. the highlight feature of the device is that it is packed with dual display (both, Front and Rear) and is powered by the latest version of Android operating system. the device is priced at CNY 2,398 (approx Rs. 23,250) for the 64GB on-board storage variant, while the 128GB on-board storage variant will be priced CNY 3,098 (approx Rs. 30,000).
Coming to the specification, the Yotaphone 3 bears a 5.5-inch Full HD Super Amoled primary display and a 5.2-inch E-Ink secondary device at the back. the device is packed with Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. the device is available in two variants differ by storage – 64GB or 128GB of on-board storage. the device is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery and with runs on YotaOS 3.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat update out-of-the box. the device also bear an Fingerprint sensor which is embedded on Home button. the device also sports an additional sensor at the back, which helps to determine which screen the user wants to unlock.
On the optics front, the device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Dual-Tone LED Flash and a front facing 12-megapixel selfie shooter.
The Yotaphone 3 also comes with pre-installed applications for reading books and a carefully selected library of classical and modern literature; The size of the pre-installed library is different for each of the smartphone modifications. The phone has a wide range of options for reading electronic books, for which the company has concluded several strategic agreements with the most popular in China applications for reading books online:
• China Reading (one of the largest in China platform for online reading)
• iReader (one of the most Authoritative online libraries)
• Lebook (mobile application for online reading from JD)
• Migu (China’s largest online reading platform)
Commenting at the launch, CEO, Baoli Yota Frank Chen stated, the company expects to sell more than 1 million devices, making the Chinese market the basis for international expansion. “China is the world’s largest smartphone market and we are confident that the launch of sales in China will be the beginning of the successful global expansion of the YotaPhone brand.We are pleased with the product and believe in its prospects in the international arena.I congratulate all who participated in the project with the completion of the first We expect that the company will be able to successfully implement more than 1 million devices in the first year of sales without taking into account new markets, including Russia, where the phone is scheduled for launch in late 2017.”
The first official presentation of the Yotaphone 3 was held at the Russian Embassy in Beijing and the event was attended by the Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov, the representative of the State Corporation Rostek Yury Tupenko, the representative of China Baoli Mabel Chu, SEO Baoli Yota Frank Chen and the head of Yota Devices Vasily Potapov.
The development of Yotaphone 3 took nearly 10 months with more than 100 technical specialists from Russia and China took part in the process of creating the phone.
The Yotaphone 3 will be available first in China from JD.com, China’s largest online retailers starting from September. the premium variant packed with 128GB of on-board storage will be available for pre-order starting from September, 5 on JD.com, and will go on open sale with the other 64GB variant starting from September, 18. the device will be also available via offline channels later on. the device will be available in Russia and other markets later this year. the company also stated that the device will branded as Yota 3 in Asia, whereas in other markets including Russia it will be branded as Yotaphone 3.
